Leave life's temptations behind

The second public service announcement that we are posting online is by Alysha and Amber. They want us to know that we should leave the temptations of life behind us.

BlipTV!

Distribution is crucial for any video project. What’s the sense in creating something if people can’t see it? So we have found a website that will host videos from our class. The first PSA featured is “When Predators Attack.”

The Greatest Movies You’ve Never Seen

Okay, this has taken awhile to post but here we go.

Here are some good movies that I’m sure that you’ve never seen. These will appear in no particular order.

1. It Happened One Night http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0025316/

2. Memento http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209144/

3. Twelve Monkeys http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114746/

4. L.A. Confidential http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119488/

5. The Graduate http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061722/

These are some movies that think are really good. The first is funny and a little bit older, made in 1934. The others are very dramatic. Full of love, violence, mystery, and action. These movies may not appeal to you, but from the perspective of film and art, they are very, very good.

If you like animated movies be sure to check out these classics:

1. All Dogs go to Heaven

2. The Secret of Nimh

3. Transformers: The Movie

BLOG USAGE

ATTN CCRESA STUDENTS!

This blog that you have created should be FOR SCHOOL USE ONLY! I’m not saying that you can’t post non-school related posts, but you need to use your judgement on what is appropriate and what is not.

This blog should be used to talk about the class, projects, what’s going on the the entertainment industry (tv, film, music, etc), interesting links and other things that can relate to this class.

You are encouraged to use this as much as you want and to make your own PERSONAL site that you can do all the other things on there that you shouldn’t do for a school account.

With that said, I look forward to seeing what you have to talk about in the coming weeks!

Top Movies of the past weekend

Every weekend Hollywood keeps track of the movies that make the most money. This is supposed to be an indication of how well the movie is doing. Some movies start out with a bang and lose momentum, some keep doing well over time, while others bottom out and flop instantly. The first weekend is crucial for a movie. Studios want to make their money back on their investments. If the movie does “really” well then talks of a sequel are inevitable. With that in mind, here are top movies for 2/19-2/21.

Top 10:

1. Shutter Island

2. Valentine’s Day

3. Avatar

4. Percy Jackson

5. The Wolfman

6. Dear John

7. Tooth Fairy

8. Crazy Heart

9. From Paris With Love

10. Edge of Darkness

For complete details go to http://movies.yahoo.com

And if you haven’t seen Avatar yet, you really should. It is a great movie. Decent story, decent acting, amazing effects. It is the HIGHEST GROSSING MOVING OF ALL TIME!

Not much to look forward to this weekend. Cop Out with Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan looks like a decent comedy flick and The Crazies looks…well crazy. Don’t be surprised to see these movies barely cracking the top 5 for the coming weekend. Next week the number one movie without question will be Alice in Wonderland. http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/aliceinwonderland/

Okay so what I would like you to do for today, 2/23/10. I would like you to first finish your planning your PSA. The deadline will be Friday 2/26/10 by the end of the hour to have it completed. You cannot check out equipment during class today. If you need something, come back by the end of the day to check it out. As far as what I would like you to do today:

1. Look at the top movies of the past weekend. How much did they make? What has made the most? What has the highest user rating? critic rating? I

2. If you have seen ANY of these movies which ones? Do you agree with the user rating or the critic rating? why?

3. Of the movies that are coming out in the next 2 weeks, which are you most excited to see? why?

4. Of the movies that are coming out this weekend which do you think will make the most money and why?

5. Search the website as well as the internet and see what else is being released this year.

6. Of the movies that you found that are coming out in 2010 what are you looking forward to the most? The one that you will for sure see opening day perhaps even at a midnight showing?

Use the yahoo! link that I have provided as well as imdb.com and http://www.apple.com/trailers/. Be sure that you answer all questions, use pictures and/or hyperlinks to enhance your blog. I’m interested in what you have to say.

For me it’s an easy answer. I’m excited for Iron Man 2. I will be seeing that on opening day for sure! I remember when the first one came out and I was expecting the worst, but it defied expectations and was one of the better movies that came out that year. Some say it is one of the better superhero movies of all time and that is hard to argue. This may be the best cast ever assembled to play in a superhero movie as well. We’ll just have to wait until May to see how well it does. In the meantime, check out the trailer for it here http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/ironman/.

LET’S BE CAREFUL OF WHAT WE SAY ON HERE AND HOW WE USE THIS. OTHERWISE THIS SITE WILL IN FACT GO AWAY.

If you were to make a movie, what would it be like?

You have gone through the process of pre-production. You’ve seen what it’s like to brainstorm, write a script and create a storyboard. Pre-production is very tedious process and can separate the good from the great. Now that you’ve had some time to get your creative juices going I want to know what else you have come up with.

If you were to produce, write and shoot a movie, what would it be like? What’s it about? Who’s starring in it? Give me details! A love story, action, drama, comedy your choice! It’s your movie! Be descriptive as to the plot and the types of characters that are present. Do your best in describing them.

This post should be:

*4-6 good paragraphs (4 or 5 well thought out sentences)

*Description of the plot (intro, conflict, rising action, resolution)

*Description of the characters (main character(s), what they’re like personality wise, etc.)

*What would the soundtrack be like (use specific songs!)

*Who would you get to act in it (or want to act in it)

*Who’s the director? (It can be you if you like)

*What influenced you for this idea? (Everyone is influenced by someone else’s work. It’s OK)

*Include any pictures/hyperlinks that will help enhance your message (pics of actors/directors, influences, etc.)

*Would there be a sequel? (Most movies today seem to end up with sequels. It can be a stand alone)

Have fun with this and really take some time on it. I’m sure you have at some point thought of something that would make a good movie. You’ve seen a lot of movies so you have a good feel for what types of movies that there are and what types of characters are in them. I’m looking forward to your wonderful ideas! You never know, there could be the next Spielberg in this class!

Welcome Clinton County RESA!

Welcome the the blogging world! This year you have learned how to be a dj, create a podcast and post it to the internet, the pre-production process and the basics of shooting video. So believe it or not you have quite a bit.

Coming up you are going to have a series of video production projects that you are going to be creating and you will be challenged to meet deadlines. To go along with these projects you are going to enter a blog entry about your progress. What did you do that day? weeks? month? What’s your upcoming plan? What did you like? What challenges did you meet? What did you learn? Basically anything that you can think of or want to talk about.

For your first entry I going to make this easy. Earlier this year you had to create a soundtrack for your life. I also had you create a list of movies that were your top 5 of all time. So what you are going to do for your first blog entry is this:

Tell me about your top 3 all time movies. What did you like about it. How do you describe it to your friends? Did you like the actors/story/plot/soundtrack/etc? Really put some thought into this. Picking 3 movies above ALL OTHERS is not an easy task. Also think about what we have learned about shot types and sequences and telling a story with the pictures. What scenes stand out to you the most? why?

In order to answer this and receive max points you must:

*be as detailed as you can.

*again think about how you would describe it to a friend.

*Free of grammatical errors. Correct spelling.

*include hyperlinks for where you got your information

*include pictures/music

*overall creativity

You can personalize this as much as you want as you will be using this a lot over the next few months. The world of digital media also encompasses blogging and social networks. It provides you with a great medium to reach a mass audience. So have fun!
